About the system

The drive axle and transmission fatigue bench uses AC dynamometers to test axle, transmission and differential assemblies for performance, efficiency and fatigue life. Closed-loop electrical energy recovery (>70%) cuts running costs, and the specimen is mounted in its real vehicle position. Real load-spectrum and road-load cycles run with 2 or 4 loading heads across 150–900 kW, with vibration monitoring and lube/coolant conditioning as standard.

Technical scope

  • 150–900 kW
  • Input up to 32 000 Nm, output up to 80 000 Nm
  • 0–±3500 r/min
  • 2/4 loading heads, >70% energy recovery
  • Real load-spectrum tests

Test functions and capabilities

  • Run-in, life and gear fatigue tests
  • Efficiency and temperature rise
  • Differential fatigue and impact tests
  • Real load-spectrum and road-load cycles (NEDC etc.)
  • Vibration monitoring and noise
  • Spray, coolant and lube conditioning
